About Erg Chebbi and Merzouga
Erg Chebbi is one of only two great sand seas in Morocco, and its dunes rise up to 150 metres, according to Atlas Obscura. Most of Morocco's desert is flat, rocky ground, which makes these dunes rare. Film fans may know them already: Journey Beyond Travel notes that The Mummy (1999) and Sahara (2005) were shot here.
Timing matters. AAA warns that from June to September, midday heat often reaches about 46°C. That is why we run summer rides at sunrise and sunset only.
